Elizabeth M. Manwell Papers

This collection contains the personal papers of religious educator, author, and academic Elizabeth M. Manwell who made significant contributions to the domain of liberal religious education. In addition to serving as Director of Religious education at May Memorial Church (now May Memorial Unitarian Universalist Society), she was a collaborator of Sophia Lyon Fahs with whom she wrote several pivotal texts on religious education and childhood development including "Consider the Children – How They Grow" and "Growing Bigger." Materials date from 1946 to 1964 and include a detailed CV, correspondence with Sophia Lyon Fahs and others, essays, and speeches or presentations.
