Titus Johnson originally came to the region to evangelize (and later offer medical help); however, when the seething resentment towards Belgian authorities reached a breaking point, Johnson and others had to escape the region with their lives while chaos broke out around him. The work traces the early activities of first missionary Titus Johnson 1897-1974) and the establishment of EFCA missionary territory amongst the people of the Ubangi, resulting in a reported 14,000 conversions. While some of the written material in this publication may reflect a limited perspective on native and colonial experience, it nonetheless offers a useful and interesting perspective into the world and activities of EFCA missionary work and the process of conversion in the Ubangi.
