Garfield's Union Army encamped nearby, the man who became our 20th president preached several sermons in this church, the first Church of Christ to be established in Ala. And one of Limestone County's oldest. Alexander Campbell and David Lipscomb also spoke here. The slave balcony, long closed, can still be seen in the church."
