From the back of the postcard: "Built at a cost of more than $1 million over a period of five years, this splendid Byzantine style church of the Greek Orthodox Church stands in stark contrast to its rural Alabama surroundings. U.P.I. Telephoto. The visitor coming in from the highway steps into beauty and into solemnity and the story of the church is told him in dignity. He is free to spend minutes, or hours, and regardless of the time he gives in this closeness to God, he goes away glad that he stopped, wondering at these works of a man who was led by God to settle in a wilderness thousands of miles from home, a man of faith. Garfield's Union Army encamped nearby, the man who became our 20th president preached several sermons in this church, the first Church of Christ to be established in Ala. And one of Limestone County's oldest. Alexander Campbell and David Lipscomb also spoke here. The slave balcony, long closed, can still be seen in the church."
