In the early church building was held the first town meeting in America. Richard Mather, an early pastor, and author of the first book published in America, founded the Mather School, the first school supported by public taxation. Printed caption on back - Unitarian Church. First Congregational Society of Leominster. Church built of Leominster granite in 1905 to replace the building burned in 1903. Interior is very beautiful and three large stained glass memorial windows are of particular interest. The organ is unusually fine.
